Access Statement for the Snowdon House

Introduction

We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors at The Snowdon in our six bedroom family run guest accommodation.

The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.

Pre-Arrival

  • There is a bus stop approximately 100 yards from our premises that provides a frequent bus service
  • Shanklin train station is 5 minutes away by car or 10/15 minutes if walking
  • There is a local taxi service that has accessible taxis if required, we can make a booking for you
  • Brochures and menus can be provided by prior arrangement

Arrival s Car Parking Facilities

  • On Arrival to the property we have a car parking area to the side of the building off Queens Road, this area has un-restricted access and is fully lit at night until 11.00pm
  • No marked parking bays but there is ample room for approximately 3/4 vehicles, alternative street parking is (when) available to the front of the building in Cross Road
  • The surface is level, flat and gravel, however there are three steps up at a height of approximately 18cm each onto flagstones which leads from the parking area to the main front entrance
  • We can assist guests with luggage please ask upon arrival
  • Shanklin Old Village, Regent Street, High Street and the cliff lift and cliff steps are a few minutes’ walk from the premises
  • Both car park and front door areas are covered by CCTV security cameras

Main Entrance s Reception

  • Access to the front door is via a short pathway. This has 3 steps up at an approximate height of 18cm each
  • The front door has one step up at 8cm high
  • The front door is always locked from the outside and requires a key to gain access 24hrs a day. A Ring camera push button bell is located in the centre of the door at a height of 185cm
  • The front door is 85cm wide with a white push down handle to the right hand side
  • On entry into the Snowdon there is a Lobby 2 by 1.8mtrs, the flooring is of coconut matting material
  • Entry to the Hallway is via one glass panelled door at 73cm wide that can be widened to 1.8mtrs

Public Areas – General (Internal)

  • A hallway that leads to the ground floor bedroom, breakfast room and bar lounge is 2mtrs by 2.7mtrs
  • Corridors, hallway and stairways have a good colour contrast with a large central border and are well lit
  • The flooring on all corridors on the ground floor hallway and is of deep pile carpet
  • The covering on stairs and upstairs corridors is deep pile carpet
  • The breakfast room and lounge are located on the ground floor
  • There are 14 stairs to a small landing area followed by a further 5 stairs to the first floor bedrooms
  • The stairs are 18cm high, 27cm deep, and 88cm wide with the handrail to the left hand side when ascending

Public Areas – WC

All bedrooms are en-suite with a public WC on the ground floor under the stairway

· Dining Room

Breakfast is served in the breakfast room on the ground floor. There are no steps

  • Furniture location is flexible and can be moved upon request
  • Dining tables have an under space of 70cm high by 120cm wide and height of 75cm, the dining chairs are without arm rests that can be moved to accommodate
  • Menus including allergens can be provided in large print and assistance can be provided by the proprietor if required
  • Background music will play in the breakfast room at meal times only

Bedrooms

6 bedrooms, one located on the ground floor and five located on the first floor

Ground floor bedroom (larger room)

  • Door widths are 74cm wide (main) and 65cm (bathroom)
  • Can either be used as a double bedded room or a twin bedded room
  • At least 85cm routes within the bedroom g. to the left hand side of double bed, 50cm between beds and 1.4mtrs to the dressing table, therefore allowing for left hand transfer to the double bed.
  • Furniture is moveable on
  • Beds are 55cm high but can be raised with blocks on request
  • Television with remote control
  • Three tub chairs are provided in the
  • En-suite shower area
  • Fitted short pile carpet on bedroom floor, linoleum flooring in the en- suite area

Grounds and Garden

  • We have a small open front garden (flower border and lawn)
  • All areas are non-smoking

Additional Information

  • Mobile phone reception is generally good
  • The front door entrance will be used in the need of evacuation, the fire alarm will ring continuously if evacuation is needed. If you require assistance for

evacuating please notify us on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely e.g. hearing/sight/mobility impairment

  • We are happy to take delivery of hired equipment
  • We are a 100% non-smoking establishment
  • We can offer a fridge which can be used for medication, drink/food available on request (not available 24hours)
